Benjamin_IgnacioBenjamin R.C. Ignacio has been aggressively and successfully representing criminal defendants for 25 years in State and Federal Courts. He prides himself on the fact that his career has been devoted to representing the Underdog — individuals, private citizens, the accused — and not the Government or Big Corporations. As a result, his practice is highly attuned to deliver personalized representation to each of his clients, big or small.

Mr. Ignacio was born in Manila, Philippines and was raised since the age of four in Honolulu. He was educated at Iolani School, Georgetown University School of Foreign Service and the University of Notre Dame Law School. After schooling on the Mainland, Mr. Ignacio returned immediately to Honolulu to begin the private practice of criminal defense.

Mr. Ignacio has 25 years of jury trial experience, and as a result enjoys the respect and esteem of his colleagues, judges, and opposing counsel. He has won jury trials in the State and Federal Courts and has argued before the Supreme Court of the State of Hawaii.  Prior to establishing his solo practice, Mr. Ignacio was a partner in the criminal defense firm Hawk Sing & Ignacio from 2003 – 2016.

The criminal charges Mr. Ignacio has defended range from DUI and other misdemeanor crime, domestic abuse, sex assault, burglary, robbery, drug offenses, white collar crime, and every variety of violent crime including murder. He has represented people from all walks of life, from homeless individuals, to public figures and politicians. Mr. Ignacio believes that the vast majority of his clients are “regular people” who just had one bad day. Valuing his clients’ privacy, Mr. Ignacio adheres to principles of discretion, and avoids the limelight and media attention.

Mr. Ignacio has been a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America, the Consumer Lawyers of Hawaii, and the Hawaii Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.

Mr. Ignacio is a proud local boy who enjoys outrigger canoe paddling, surfing, playing music, and spending time with Ohana. He speaks Tagalog and Russian.
