Benjamin R.C. Ignacio

Benjamin R.C. Ignacio is a founding partner of Hawk Sing & Ignacio and focuses on criminal defense and personal injury. He has dedicated his  career to representing individual persons, not governments, law enforcement, or big corporations.

Mr. Ignacio was born in Manila, Philippines, but was raised since the age of 4 in a bilingual home (Tagalog, English) in Honolulu, Hawaii. Mr. Ignacio graduated from Iolani School in 1985 alongside partner, Jeffrey Hawk.  Mr. Ignacio received his Bachelor’s Degree in 1989 from Georgetown University in Washington D.C., focusing on National Security Studies. He received his law degree in 1992 from the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. At Notre Dame Law School Mr. Ignacio also trained at the National Institute of Trial Advocacy (NITA), based in South Bend.

Mr. Ignacio has 20 years of legal experience in the field of criminal defense and he has handled all manner of cases, including jury trials in Federal and State courts.  The charges in his cases have included murder, manslaughter, white collar crime, sexual assault,, burglary, robbery, and other property or theft crimes, welfare fraud, assault and other violent crime, abuse of family and household member, DUI, drug trafficking of a variety of controlled substances including crystal methamphetamine, ecstasy, cocaine, heroin, and marijuana.

Mr. Ignacio is a member of the National Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers, (NACDL) America’s premiere organization advancing the mission of ensuring justice and due process for persons accused of crime. Mr. Ignacio is also a member of the Association of Trial Lawyers of America (ATLA) and Consumer Lawyers of Hawaii (CLH), and the Hawaii Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers (HACDL).

Mr. Ignacio is conversant in the Filipino dialect of Tagalog and was certified proficient in the Russian language.

Mr. Ignacio’s articles on legal issues have appeared in the Fil-Am Courier and he has spoken on legal topics on KNDI radio.

Mr. Ignacio is an avid canoe paddler, surfer, and musician. He has crossed the Ka’iwi Channel six times as a competitor in the prestigious Molokai Ho’e canoe race.
